Convert Word to Text & Markdown
Extract the body of a Word (.docx) file as text, Markdown, or HTML — handy for reusing drafts. Everything runs entirely in your browser, so your file is never sent anywhere. Use it with confidence.
How to use
Drag and drop (or select) a Word (.docx) file and its text is extracted. Use the buttons above to switch between Text, Markdown, and HTML, then Copy or Save the result. Basic formatting such as headings, lists, and bold carries over to Markdown and HTML.
* All processing happens entirely in your browser; files are never uploaded to a server. Complex layouts (columns, shape placement, and the like) are not preserved — the extraction focuses on the body text.
FAQ
Are my files uploaded?
No. Conversion happens entirely in your browser (on your own device), and files are never sent anywhere.
Can I use .doc (the older format)?
Only .docx is supported at present. For a .doc file, use “Save as .docx” in Word first.
What happens to tables and images?
Tables are mostly extracted in the text and HTML outputs. Images are embedded in the HTML output (and omitted in text and Markdown).
Is it free to use?
Yes — free, no sign-up.
