Convert Video to GIF (MP4 → GIF)

Clip out part of a video and turn it into an animated GIF. All processing happens entirely within your browser, so your video is never uploaded. Use it with confidence.

The first time you use it, the conversion engine (about 24MB) is loaded into your browser (this can take a few dozen seconds). Longer, larger GIFs make heavier files, so a few seconds at around 320px wide is recommended.

How to use

Choose the video you want to convert and set the start point (sec) and duration (sec) for your GIF. Pick a frame rate and width, then press “Convert to GIF”: the engine loads only on the first run, after which the GIF is written out. You can preview the finished GIF right here and download it with “Save.

Note: All processing happens entirely within your browser. Your video is never uploaded to a server. For a clean result, the palette is optimized internally during conversion.

FAQ

Is my video uploaded?

No. Conversion happens entirely in your browser (on your device), and your video is never sent externally.

My GIF file is too large.

Making it shorter (a few seconds), narrower (240–320px), and lowering the frame rate (8–10 fps) will make it lighter.

Why is loading slow only the first time?

Because the in-browser conversion engine (about 24MB) is loaded only on the first run. After that it's cached, so it's faster.

Is it free to use?

Yes, it's free with no sign-up required.
