How to use
Pick the images you want to compress, choose By quality or By target size, and press Compress. If you choose By target size, the quality is adjusted automatically to fit within the file size (KB) you set. Set a max width to resize at the same time if you need to. When done, download each image with its Save button.

How image compression works
Making an image smaller comes down to three levers: (1) lowering quality (compression ratio), (2) reducing dimensions (pixel count), and (3) changing the format. When you pick a target size, this tool automatically searches for the quality that stays under your target KB while limiting visible loss (a binary search). If it's still too big, set a max width to resize and it will fit reliably.
Choosing a target file size
- Web pages / blogs: around 100–300 KB per image keeps pages fast.
- Email attachments / form uploads: aim for about 500 KB each to stay within a few MB total.
- Social media: platforms re-compress anyway, so a 1600–2048px long edge at ~1 MB is plenty.
Choosing a format (JPEG / PNG / WebP)
- Photos: JPEG or WebP — the biggest savings.
- Needs transparency: WebP (lighter than PNG while keeping the alpha channel).
- Diagrams, icons, text-heavy: PNG or WebP keep edges crisp.
FAQ
Are my images uploaded anywhere?
No. All compression happens inside your browser (on your device), and images are never sent anywhere.
Will it fit exactly within the size I set?
The quality is lowered automatically until the file fits within your target size. If it still exceeds even at the lowest quality, reducing the max width to resize is effective.
Can I compress and keep it as PNG?
Photos become far lighter when converted to JPEG or WebP. To keep a PNG's transparency, choose WebP, which shrinks the file while preserving transparency.
How much can I lower the quality safely?
For JPEG photos, quality around 70–80% is usually indistinguishable from the original. That range cuts file size a lot for web use.
Can I restore the quality after compressing?
JPEG/WebP compression is lossy, so the original quality can't be recovered. Keep the original file and compress a copy.
Can I process multiple images at once?
Yes. Select several images to compress them all at once, then download them one by one.
